X Placement Strategy
X is the most versatile high-value tile. Unlike Q, it doesn't require specific letters and combines in every direction:
- Double Letter Score under X = 16 points just for the X tile, before the rest of the word
- XI and XU as parallel plays: Place a word next to an existing one so XI or XU forms — easy 9–18 points
- OX hook: Many words accept X as a hook (BOX from BO, FOX from FO, TAX from TA)
- -EX words (HEX, SEX, LEX, REX, VEX) all score 10–14 points with only 3 tiles
- Avoid hoarding X — unlike Z, there's rarely a "perfect" moment that's significantly better than playing it now
